Ana Didovic: Toilet

The transformation took about two weeks, from demolition to the final polish. Here’s what Ana says about her new bathroom centerpiece:

“I never thought a toilet could be a conversation starter. Every time I walk into the bathroom now, I smile. It’s functional, it’s beautiful, and it reflects who I am—someone who cares about the planet, loves good design, and enjoys a good joke.”

Visitors agree. Friends often comment that the bathroom feels like a mini‑spa rather than just a utility room, and the black toilet has become a “photo‑op” spot for Instagram stories—especially the paper crane detail. ana didovic toilet

Ana is a graphic designer, so she couldn’t resist adding a subtle artistic flourish. She commissioned a local artist, Marija Kovač, to create a custom laser‑etched pattern on the underside of the toilet lid. The design is a minimalist line drawing of a paper crane—a nod to Ana’s love of origami and the Japanese concept of senbazuru (a thousand cranes for good luck).

The engraving is subtle enough that it’s only visible when the seat is lifted, turning a mundane moment into a small surprise. The transformation took about two weeks, from demolition

Ana Didović shows us that even the most ordinary objects—like a toilet—can become an expression of personal style, sustainability, and fun. The next time you think about a bathroom remodel, remember: the little things can make the biggest impact.

A few months after installing the new toilet, Ana decided to go a step further and add smart bathroom tech:

All of these features are controlled via a small, waterproof touch panel next to the sink.

Ana’s sense of humor shines through in the final detail: a tiny “Do Not Disturb” sign that slides out from the side of the toilet tank. When she’s in a meeting and needs a quick bathroom break, she can pull the sign out, giving her a tiny moment of privacy—plus a chuckle for anyone who spots it later.
