In 2012, Avicii (Tim Bergling) was untouchable. Levels was the anthem of a generation. He was the face of EDM’s American gold rush, playing to tens of thousands of fans who wanted nothing more than a four-on-the-floor kick drum and a soaring, euphoric synth.
When whispers of a new album—tentatively titled True—began circulating, the expectation was simple: Levels times twelve.
Then came Miami.
Perhaps the most audacious track on the album. Dan Tyminski (famous for "Man of Constant Sorrow" from O Brother, Where Art Thou?) sings a soulful bluegrass lyric over a pulsing EDM beat. The music video, depicting war and family bonds, adds a layer of gravitas. It’s both a dance track and a folk ballad.
The original closer. An emotional powerhouse recorded before Dan Reynolds became a stadium rock star. The track builds from a lonely piano intro to a colossal, cathartic drop. It was later reworked for Avicii’s posthumous album TIM. Avicii - True -2013-Album-.rar
