Many users confuse firmware with maps. While maps reside on an SD card, the firmware tells the device how to read that map data. Without a recent firmware update, your San Diego 530 may not recognize modern map files (e.g., larger POI databases or newer road formats). Many users confuse firmware with maps

Once you have the files on your USB stick (either downloaded via Toolbox or manually copied if you found official files):

Confirm: The screen will ask for confirmation.

Completion: The unit will likely reboot several times. Once it boots back to the main menu, the update is complete. You can verify the new version in the System Info menu.
