Serious Wii full-set collectors differentiate every variant. Owning both RVL-RB4J-0A-0 and RVL-RB4J-0A-1 is considered a badge of dedication, similar to collecting Wii Sports with different pack-in sleeve variations.
This is the most critical distinction for this title.
Using community dumps and hex comparisons (thanks to the Wii homebrew scene), we now know exactly what was altered between Rev 0 and Rev 1 of Bomberman Land Wii Japan.
| Area | Rev 0 (Original) | Rev 1 (Fixed) | |------|------------------|----------------| | Attraction #17 (Rope Climb) | Triggers crash when 2P joins | Stable | | Save data handling | Occasional corruption after 7+ hours play | Checksum reworked | | Online ranking | Failed to send scores to Hudson servers | Corrected (servers now offline anyway) | | Mii loading screen | Rare memory leak | Patched | | Bomberman’s walk speed in park | Slightly slower (community-noticed) | Unchanged – myth debunked |
Verification method: If you have a modded Wii and a disc drive compatible with CleanRip, you can dump both revisions and compare MD5 hashes. Rev 1’s main.dol file is approximately 128KB smaller due to optimized code.
No graphical or audio changes exist between revisions. The Western versions share Rev 1’s codebase but have altered language files and region locking.
