Diablo 1 Save File Location ✔ [ LIMITED ]

Because the original game runs poorly on modern hardware, many players use source ports. These engines require the original game assets (.mpq files) but rewrite the save system.

GOG’s release (2021-ish) is modified to run on modern Windows but still uses the original save system.
Location: Wherever you installed the game. Defaults:

Check the folder for .sv files.

Windows:

%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\devilution\

Linux / macOS:

~/.local/share/diablo/

Android:

Internal Storage/Android/data/org.diasurgical.devilutionx/files/

Saves are still .sv format, often named single_*.sv.

"I can't see the AppData folder!" If you are looking for the Game Pass saves manually, the AppData folder is hidden by default.

"I want to backup my saves." Simply copy the .sv or .drv files to a USB drive or a cloud storage folder (like Dropbox or Google Drive). To restore them, paste them back into the folder you took them from. diablo 1 save file location

"Can I transfer saves between versions?" Yes. You can copy a .sv file from the original CD version and paste it into the GOG Saved Games\Diablo folder, and vice versa. The file format has not changed.

Older Windows (XP and earlier):

C:\Program Files\Diablo\

or the folder where you installed the game.
