Unless you have a legacy system, you should use the latest DMDE version. The 4.x branch is faster and safer.
A cracked version of DMDE 3.8.0 will never receive bug fixes. If you encounter a bug that corrupts your recovered data (ironic for a recovery tool), you have no recourse.
