Driveclub was an always-online game at launch. While the developers eventually patched in offline modes, the game still performs "handshakes" with PlayStation servers when it boots. Because the official servers are dead, a standard PKG install of the base game often crashes, hangs on the title screen, or refuses to save.
To get a smooth experience, you cannot just install the base game. You need a specific combination of game files and patches.
Transfer the main Driveclub PKG to your PS4 (via USB or FTP) and install it using the Package Installer. Do not launch the game yet.
| Error Code | Meaning | The Fix | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | CE-34878-0 | Game crash on boot/race start | Install v1.28 backport. Disable HDCP. | | CE-40740-5 | Corrupted PKG | Re-download the base PKG. Do not interrupt install. | | CE-40944-8 | Firmware too low | You need a backport patch (5.05/6.72/7.55/9.00). | | CE-36329-3 | DLC mismatch | Uninstall Bikes addon. Install v1.28 first, then Bikes. | | Infinite load | Waiting for server timeout | Disconnect internet before launching. |
Check these fingerprints in the PKG contents:
| File | Modified by fix | Purpose |
|------|----------------|---------|
| eboot.bin | Patched @ offsets 0x2A4F7C | Disable NP web API |
| libSceNpWebApi.prx | Dummy replaced | Return success on all calls |
| driveclub.self | Hex-edited | Force offline mode flag |
| param.sfo | Version bumped to 01.28 | Match backport |
A proper fix will also remove the psn_required flag from app0:/config/game.json (inside the PKG).
