Warning: Downgrading firmware can permanently damage the printer if interrupted or if wrong file is used. Proceed at your own risk.
Most ML2165/ML2168 printers accept downgrades only in recovery mode:
Cover the left contact on the chip with a small piece of non-conductive tape (Kapton tape). This forces the printer to read the chip as “full” but may disable toner level monitoring.
