G Poly is commonly extruded into flat sheets or films. The amorphous nature allows for high-speed extrusion without quenching (rapid cooling). The sheets exit the die and pass over chilled rollers to lock in the flatness. These sheets are the raw material for signage, medical packaging, and blister packs.

Understanding the production of G Poly helps explain its premium status. The process begins with a melt-phase polymerization of terephthalic acid, ethylene glycol, and CHDM. Unlike crystalline polymers that require slow cooling to maintain structure, G Poly is rapidly cooled to lock in its amorphous state.

Manufacturers prefer G Poly because it processes similarly to polycarbonate but at lower melt temperatures (260°C vs. 300°C), reducing energy costs and cycle times.

G Poly films are used as a laser-printable overlay for maps, reference cards, and ID badges. Unlike vinyl, it does not yellow with UV exposure; unlike polyester (PET), it accepts toner and ink without special primers.
