Who remembers Heroes Lore 2: The Knight of Frozen Sea? It was arguably one of the best JRPGs on the J2ME platform. The story was massive, the bosses were tough, and that soundtrack was unexpectedly epic for a flip phone.
I just found the English version running at 240x320 resolution. Runs perfectly on emulators!

HEROES LORE 2
The Knight of Frozen Sea
You step into the role of Leon, a knight of the frozen northern kingdom of Eldia. The “Frozen Sea” is not just a geographical location but a magical prison encasing a great evil. The narrative begins when the eternal ice begins to crack, releasing monstrous creatures and a mysterious plague of frost that turns men into mindless soldiers.
Leon must uncover the truth behind the ancient knight who sacrificed himself to freeze the sea centuries ago. Along the way, you’ll meet a diverse cast: HEROES LORE 2 The Knight of Frozen Sea
The story is told through sprite-based cutscenes and text dialogues. The English translation, while occasionally awkward, is fully legible and preserves the emotional weight of the original Korean script. Themes of sacrifice, memory loss, and redemption run deep—far more complex than typical mobile fare of the time.
Kam defeats the cult leader, but it is too late. The ritual has destabilized the Rune. The Demon of Chaos manifests, possessing the body of Dark.
In the game's climax, Kam is forced to fight his best friend. It is a tragic battle where the player must deplete the massive HP bar of the possessed Dark. Ellen provides support, trying to separate the demon from the knight without killing him.
Upon defeating the demon, the spirit of Dark is freed, but he is mortally wounded. In his final moments, Dark hands the Rune to Kam. He explains that the Rune requires a pure heart to suppress its cold rage. He dies in Kam’s arms, asking him to protect the world from the corrupt King. You step into the role of Leon ,

However, Heroes Lore distinguished itself with a darker, more mature narrative and a class-based skill system.
Heroes Lore 2: The Knight of Frozen Sea continues this legacy. Released around the mid-2000s, it was a benchmark for what mobile action-RPGs could achieve. The subtitle, The Knight of Frozen Sea, hints at a melancholic, icy adventure—one that revolves around duty, betrayal, and cursed knighthood.
The story begins with Kamerina (often called "Kam" in the text), a loyal knight serving the Kingdom of the Red Wolf. He is a Warrior class character, bound by duty and honor.
The King summons Kam to the throne room. A mysterious dark knight, known as Dark, has stolen a sacred relic from the kingdom and fled toward the Northern frontier. Worse, reports indicate that "Dark" is actually Kam's former best friend and rival, who was exiled years ago.
Reluctant to fight his friend but bound by duty, Kam is tasked with two objectives:
