Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite Custom Rom New
Published: October 2023 (Updated for 2024 Projects)
The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite (codenamed "Agassi" or "Agassi-L") was released in 2018 as a mid-range champion. With its Harman Kardon-tuned speakers, a decent 10.1-inch Full HD display, and an integrated stylus, it was a fantastic device for media consumption and light productivity.
Fast forward to today, however, and the story changes. Huawei has long ceased software support for this tablet. The device is stuck on Android 9 (Pie) with EMUI 9.1. Security patches are outdated, the interface feels clunky by modern standards, and Google’s GMS (Google Mobile Services) is becoming harder to manage on these legacy builds.
This is where the world of Custom ROMs enters. If you have been searching for a "Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite Custom ROM New" , you are likely feeling the pain of obsolescence. The good news? The developer community has not entirely abandoned this device. In this article, we will explore the latest developments, the available Android 13/14 options, and how to safely unlock your bootloader to give your tablet a second life.
The bleeding edge arrived in September 2023. A developer on 4PDA released a GSI of Android 14 for the M5 Lite.

The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite cannot support a fully functional, device-specific custom ROM (like official LineageOS) without Huawei releasing proprietary HAL sources or an enthusiast reverse-engineering the audio, power, and camera stacks. The only viable community project is a post-market GSI with manual fixes, which remains unstable for daily use. For users seeking a custom ROM, Snapdragon-based tablets (e.g., Lenovo Tab P11, Xiaomi Mi Pad 4) remain the only feasible candidates.
Future Work: An exploit to bypass AVB and a complete port of the audio HAL from the similar Kirin 659 Honor 9 Lite (which has minimal custom ROM support) could revive this device.
