Kenshi | Genesis Map

Because the Kenshi Genesis Map is so dense, it is a hardware hog. You cannot run Genesis on a low-end PC with maxed-out view distance.

One of the most complained-about features of vanilla Kenshi is the map UI. Genesis doesn't change the art style of the map, but it changes what the icons mean. kenshi genesis map

New Icon Legend:

Because the map is so dense, Genesis introduces "LOD Fog." If you zoom out completely, only major cities appear. You must zoom in to the second-highest level to see the minor camps and ruins. Pro Tip: Right-click to set a "Custom Marker." The Genesis map is too large to memorize in one playthrough.

Understanding the political layer of the Genesis Map is essential for survival. The mod introduces factions that don't just stand around; they patrol, expand, and go to war. Because the Kenshi Genesis Map is so dense,

| Faction | Territory (New Locations) | Player Relation | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | The Technomancers | The Grid & Stobe’s Gamble | Neutral (can repair skeletons) | | The Nomad Clans | Hidden between Shem and The Eye | Friendly (trade caravans) | | The Ashland Gladiators | The Pits (South of Ashlands) | Hostile (arena combat events) | | The Western Hive | New villages west of Vain | Hostile (rogue prince) |

One of the most impressive features is the dynamic war simulation. For example, if you wipe out the Holy Nation’s leadership in Okran’s Valley, the Shek Kingdom (which has been overhauled with new war camps) will physically expand their structures into those ruins on the Genesis Map.

1. The Difficulty Curve: Genesis is generally harder than vanilla, but sometimes for the wrong reasons. Because there are so many new factions, you will often run into "death squads" wandering the map that you have no reference for. You might stumble into a zone guarded by a Genesis-exclusive faction that is significantly stronger than anything in vanilla, leading to frustrating squad wipes without warning. 2. The Economy: With the addition of so many high-tier weapons and loot, you might find yourself becoming rich faster than in vanilla. The economy is slightly inflated because there is so much "ancient" loot to find in the new ruins.

3. Research Bloat: The mod adds a massive amount of new building and crafting research. While cool, some of it feels like "busy work." You have to research basic items that feel like they should be standard, which can slow down the early-game base-building significantly.

At the heart of the Kenshi Genesis Map are its factions. These are groups of people united under a single banner, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Some seek to build a better world, while others aim to conquer and dominate. There are several types of factions:

Exploration is a crucial part of the Kenshi experience. As you venture into the unknown, you'll discover new resources, factions, and quests. Expansion can occur through peaceful means, like trade and diplomacy, or through conquest. Your actions have consequences; the way you interact with other factions can lead to lasting alliances or bitter rivalries.
