After restarting: Launch AutoCAD 2021. The splash screen, ribbon, tooltips, and command line will now be in your new language. Language Pack Autocad 2021
AutoCAD 2021 does not have an in-app language switcher. You must use a shortcut or Windows Registry.
If you deploy via SCCM or Group Policy, use the Command Line Silent Install: Prerequisites:
Autodesk_AutoCAD_2021_Language_Pack_French_Win_64bit.exe /quiet /norestart
Note: Test this on a pilot machine first. Language packs modify the registry heavily.
A Language Pack is an official add-on module provided by Autodesk that changes the user interface (UI) of your existing AutoCAD 2021 installation. It replaces menus, toolbars, ribbon tabs, dialogue boxes, command line prompts, and error messages from one language to another. The Process:
While this report focuses on AutoCAD 2021, note that more recent versions (2024–2026) have improved language switching. For AutoCAD 2021 specifically:
Always install the English version first. Most support documentation, third-party plugins (LISP routines, ARX apps), and online forums use English command names. Installing English as the base ensures plugin compatibility.
There are two methods to enable a different language in AutoCAD 2021, depending on how the software was initially deployed.
Custom CUIx (Custom User Interface) files created in one language may not map correctly to another language's command IDs. Always save a "neutral" CUIx if you switch languages frequently.
