If you have never read the Twilight saga, do not start with Midnight Sun. The book assumes you know the plot twists. It spoils the ending of Twilight immediately (Edward knows James is coming, etc.).

Recommended Reading Order:

On August 4, 2020, Stephenie Meyer finally released the finished Midnight Sun — nearly 700 pages long. It became an instant #1 bestseller worldwide, giving fans a darker, more introspective, and surprisingly funny look at Edward’s tortured inner world.

Fun fact: The book includes a detailed baseball scene (the Cullens vs. the visiting vampires) that’s even more intense from Edward’s perspective.

If you just want to compare drafts, search for “Midnight Sun partial draft 2008” – but know it’s incomplete.

If you cannot afford the book, do not pirate it. Use your library card. Most public libraries subscribe to OverDrive or Libby. You can "check out" the Midnight Sun eBook (often in PDF or ePub format) for 14 or 21 days. It is free, legal, and supports your local library.
