P0sixspwn Requires Itunes 105 Or Above 2021 May 2026

Apple’s security and driver changes make this much harder. Your best options:

If you refuse to downgrade or use a VM, you can try the DLL proxy hack. This works approximately 60% of the time.

  • Rename your current Apple Mobile Device service: Open services.msc, find "Apple Mobile Device Service." Stop it.
  • Run p0sixspwn. The tool will now use the local, older DLLs instead of the system ones.

    • Note: This often results in a "Device not found" error. If that happens, revert to Method 1. p0sixspwn requires itunes 105 or above 2021

    Some developers have released a patched p0sixspwn.exe that removes the iTunes version check. Look for "p0sixspwn v1.3 no-iTunes-check" on legacy jailbreak forums. This version bypasses the version verification but still requires the old Apple Mobile Device drivers. You’ll still need to install iTunes 11.4 drivers – but the patched tool won’t complain about version numbers.

  • Specificity of "10.5": iTunes 10.5 (released 2011) supported iOS 5-era devices; referencing 10.5 as minimum for iOS 6 workflows is plausible historically but not strictly accurate as later iTunes versions also include required drivers. By 2021, iTunes had advanced far beyond 10.5 (and on macOS Catalina and later, Finder handles device sync instead of iTunes).
  • macOS differences: On modern macOS (10.15+), iTunes no longer exists; device support moved to Finder and to separate Apple Mobile Device frameworks. Users on Catalina+ do not install iTunes but still have required system support.
  • Community notes (historical): jailbreak guides commonly recommended installing the latest iTunes available at the time to ensure drivers and restore capability; they rarely required exactly 10.5.

    • On modern macOS (10.15+), p0sixspwn no longer works at all. Use a Windows VM with USB passthrough or an old Windows machine. Apple’s security and driver changes make this much harder

  • Restart your computer.

  • Download iTunes 11.4 (64-bit) from a trusted archive (e.g., OldVersion.com or FileHippo). The direct Apple servers no longer host this version. Rename your current Apple Mobile Device service: Open

  • Install iTunes 11.4. Do not let it update automatically.

  • Block Apple update services (optional but recommended):

  • Run p0sixspwn as Administrator (Right-click → Run as Administrator).

    • ⚠️ Note for Windows 10/11: You may see a warning that iTunes 11.4 is "incompatible." Ignore it. It works, but the installer UI will look like Windows 7.
