Inventory management has received a massive overhaul with new storage options designed to keep your decks clutter-free.
The Receiver and Antenna setup is identical to v1.0. However, v1.08 fixed the compass glitch where coordinates would scramble if you loaded a save while sailing east. Place your antennae on the highest deck of your raft—one floor above the water line prevents wave occlusion.
Even the best patch has quirks. Here is how to solve them.
Issue: "My friend cannot join my world. It says 'Version Mismatch.'" Fix: Ensure both of you are on the same branch. Right-click Raft in Steam > Properties > Betas > select "None - Default." Raft v1.08
Issue: "The birds keep stealing my crops." Fix: In v1.08, Screechers target Plot spacing. If you place crop plots in a 2x2 grid, they cannot land. Leave one empty space in the center.
Issue: "I can't find the Blueprint for the Engine Controls." Fix: This is not a bug. In v1.08, the blueprint is guaranteed to spawn in the Basement of Vasagatan (The cruise ship). Check the locked cabin next to the pool table. Earlier wiki entries lie.
The headline feature of this update is the ability to customize the interior of your raft like never before. Inventory management has received a massive overhaul with
| Bug | Fix | | :--- | :--- | | Zipline won't connect | Ensure receiver is on a solid foundation (not a net or half-wall). Reload game if tool refuses to fire. | | Trading Post stops trading | Sail 2000+ meters away and come back. Or destroy/replace your raft's anchor. | | Shark ignores bait | Use Raw Fish (not cooked). V1.08 reduced bait effectiveness; use Explosive Spear instead. | | Titanium Ore not smelting | You need a Smelter (not the Simple Purifier). Place ore + Planks. |
First, a clarification. Raft is not a "live service" game with seasonal patches. Redbeet Interactive largely finished development with the 1.0 release. v1.08 is a post-launch quality-of-life patch.
Specifically, Raft v1.08 was deployed to address critical bugs that surfaced in the initial 1.0 launch. These included: Even the best patch has quirks
In short, v1.08 doesn't add new story islands (that was v1.0’s job), but it makes the existing game run flawlessly. For modders and speedrunners, this is the benchmark version.
As the "final" patch, the developers spent significant time polishing the experience.
