If the app refuses to open at all, you can use PowerShell to force a re-registration of the Windows package. This is a command-line version of the reinstall process.
Note: This applies to the modern "Remote Desktop" app from the Microsoft Store. If you are using the classic "Remote Desktop Connection" (mstsc.exe), Method 3 is the correct approach.
