Sonic Mania Hyper — Sonic Mod

A quality-of-life feature carried over from the classic games is automatic underwater breathing. Transforming into Hyper Sonic instantly replenishes the oxygen meter, and the form does not deplete oxygen, negating the primary threat of water levels like Hydrocity or Tidal Tempest.

The mod is accessible through the Mania Mod Loader.

Gone is the golden yellow. When you trigger the mod (usually by collecting 50 rings and double-jumping with 7 Chaos Emeralds), Sonic bleaches white, then cycles through a rapid spectrum of RGB colors. The palette is notoriously difficult to capture in screenshots because it is constantly shifting. The modders had to rewrite the game’s shader pipeline to accommodate this, as Mania’s engine wasn't natively built for per-frame color cycling. sonic mania hyper sonic mod

Before you start, note that this mod is only available for the PC version of Sonic Mania (Steam or Epic Games Store) via the Mania Mod Manager. This does not work on Nintendo Switch, PS4, or Xbox.
