Heart of Stone (1985) from Tuna |
|
SPOILERS: Heart of Stone (2001) is a serial killer/thriller film. There is a ritualistic murder of a co-ed during the opening credits, then we see Angie Everhart preparing a birthday party for her daughter, who is about to start college. After the party, Everhart tries to seduce her own husband, who is frequently away on business. At this point in the film, about 5 minutes in, based on the man's character and the way they introduced him, I figured he must be the killer. |
|
From there, they do their level best to convince the audience that someone else is guilty. A younger man seduces Everhart, then tricks her into lying to give him an alibi for the time of a second ritual killing. He stalks her, we learn that he is a former mental patient, and eventually see him kill several people. Nearing the last five minutes of the film, Everhart's daughter has killed the young man, and I was still convinced that the husband was the serial killer. Sure enough, I was right. |

Add-On Instructions (AOIs) have long been the standard for reusable code, but they always had one major flaw: you couldn't easily define default tag values inside the AOI definition.
No software is perfect. Users on Rockwell’s Knowledgebase (Answer ID: QA55632) and Reddit/PLCr have reported:
Studio 5000 V35 – EssentialsNew instructions: TOT, DERIV Serial ASCII: Yes (in controller properties) Git: Built-in (Tools → Team Development) Safety: Use FW 35.011 only Save As: Can go down to V33
Online edit flow: Start edits → Modify → Test → Assemble → Finalize
Common errors: E001 – Non-existent tag (check scope) E089 – Serial port not in ASCII mode S001 – Safety signature mismatch
Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 35 , released by Rockwell Automation in late 2022,
focuses on expanding virtualization capabilities, streamlining process automation, and introducing a developer-friendly scripting utility Rockwell Automation Key Features & Enhancements Virtualization & Simulation
: Axis-Test Mode allows for virtualizing motion for Kinetix, PowerFlex, and iTRAK 5730 devices. This supports physical controllers and emulated ones via FactoryTalk Logix Echo V2 Studio 5000 SDK
: This version introduces the first public software development kit (SDK), enabling users to write C++ scripts
to automate repetitive tasks within the Logix Designer environment. Process Improvements : New embedded process instructions— —improve integration with PlantPAx systems. Hardware Support : Expanded support for SequenceManager studio 5000 version 35
to include 5x80P process controllers and new FLEX 5000 AJ and gardening platforms. Safety Signature Changes
: In GuardLogix 5380 and 5580 controllers, safety tag values no longer impact the safety signature, allowing users to clear some safety faults without needing a full project download. System Requirements According to technical documentation release notes : Intel Core i5 (i5-3xxx or better). : Minimum 8 GB recommended. : 30–65 GB SSD space depending on the installation scope. OS Compatibility : Compatible with Windows 10 (Professional/Enterprise). Prerequisite : Requires Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 to be enabled during installation. What's New in Studio 5000 v35 with Rockwell Automation
Studio 5000 Version 35 generally considered a solid, mature release
that is preferred by many users over the newer Version 36 because it retains traditional instruction naming (e.g., keeping instead of the newer
). It is particularly strong for process and motion applications due to enhanced virtualization and expanded hardware support. Key Features & Enhancements Process Industry Focus : Expanded SequenceManager
support for 5x80P controllers and new built-in process instructions ( ) for easier integration with PlantPAx. Virtualization : Introduced Axis-Test Mode
, allowing for the testing of Kinetix, PowerFlex, and iTRAK motion devices without physical hardware using FactoryTalk Logix Echo. Improved Downloads
: Users report significantly faster and more robust download speeds when using FactoryTalk Linx
as the communication software compared to the older RSLinx Classic. Modern Interface
: Includes a modern, web-based UI for Add-On Profiles (AOP) to provide a consistent configuration experience. Safety Signature Improvements Add-On Instructions (AOIs) have long been the standard
: Safety tag values no longer impact the safety signature on GuardLogix 5380 and 5580 controllers, allowing online edits without full downloads. Rockwell Automation Known Issues & Considerations I/O Tree Bugs
: Some users reported that v35 initially "broke" I/O trees for certain devices; however, patches released in 2024 (e.g., for 1756 Analog I/O) have addressed many of these module profile errors. Compatibility Conflicts
: There is a documented conflict with CodeMeter Runtime (often installed with SICK software) that can cause v35 to fail to open with an afutil.dll Performance Requirements
: While it can run on lower specs, 8 GB of RAM and an Intel Core i5 are highly recommended to avoid sluggishness or "stuttering" during operation. Release Note - Rockwell Automation
Studio 5000 version 35 (Logix Designer v35.00) introduces several modernizations aimed at improving the user experience for hardware configuration and system connectivity. Key Features of Version 35
Modernized Add-On Profiles (AOP): Version 35 features a new web-based user interface for Add-On Profiles, specifically for 5069 and 5094 I/O modules. This update provides a common device configuration experience across multiple design platforms.
FactoryTalk Linx 6.31 Support: To communicate with controllers running version 35 firmware, you must use FactoryTalk Linx version 6.31 or later.
Bi-directional Data Exchange: This version supports improved data exchange with the Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB), allowing users to import and export configurations between the two tools more efficiently.
Multi-Version Support: Users can install multiple versions of Logix Designer, including v35, using a single multi-version installation package. System Requirements
For optimal performance with Studio 5000 v35, the following specifications are recommended: Operating System: Windows 10 v1703 or later. Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 35 , released
Processor: Intel Core i5 (i5-3xxx series) or better, at 2.4GHz.
RAM: 8 GB minimum (16 GB recommended for better performance). Hard Disk Space: 16 GB of free space. Important Notes for Users
UI Permanence: Once you move to the new module configuration screens in v35, you cannot revert them to the previous legacy format.
Firmware Matching: Software versions must exactly match the PLC firmware version to connect; version 35 software will only talk to version 35 firmware.
Stable Version: Community consensus on Reddit's PLC forum suggests that v35.11 is the preferred stable release over the initial 35.00 version.
Are you planning to upgrade an existing project to version 35, or are you starting a fresh installation?
FactoryTalk Linx: Support for Studio 5000 version 35 controllers
Before downloading Studio 5000 Version 35, you must verify your ecosystem. Rockwell is notorious for strict version dependencies.
Rockwell has moved heavily toward "FactoryTalk Software Manager" (FTSM) for licensing.
