The Beginning: Freedom The story begins 500 years after the events of the first film. In exchange for his freedom, Wukong is tasked by the Bodhisattva Guanyin to protect Sanzang on a dangerous journey to the West to retrieve sacred Buddhist scriptures.

In a final confrontation, Wukong has to fight not just the demoness, but also his master's misunderstanding. To defeat the demoness, Wukong is forced to make a heartbreaking decision. He eventually destroys the White Bone Spirit, but in doing so, he proves his loyalty to his master.

The Ending Sanzang realizes his mistake in judging Wukong. He understands that to protect the innocent, one must sometimes destroy evil, even if it looks violent. The group reconciles and continues their journey to the West, stronger and more united than before.
