After a series of violent confrontations, the Terminator pursues them through a police station and a final chase culminating in a factory, where Kyle sacrifices himself to save Sarah and the Terminator is destroyed—though not before leaving the implication that parts of it (and the knowledge of the future) ensure John Connor’s eventual birth.
