Ask: What behavior do I want to do, but consistently fail to start? The bottleneck is never the behavior itself (e.g., writing, exercising, studying). The bottleneck is the transition from passive state to active state.

The Trikker must engage one of the five senses in a way that cannot be ignored.

Start at the top of a very slight incline (a driveway is perfect). Stand on the Trikker. To start the motion, you need to fall. Lean your entire body weight hard to the Right.

You have likely heard of "habit stacking" (BJ Fogg’s method: "After I brush my teeth, I will floss"). Habit stacking relies on existing habits as triggers. Trikker Activation is different.

| Feature | Habit Stacking | Trikker Activation | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Cue Source | Existing behavior (unreliable) | Engineered sensory event (reliable) | | Consciousness | Requires memory ("Did I brush?") | Bypasses memory entirely | | Failure rate | High during routine disruption | Low if Trikker is salient | | Best for... | Simple, sequential tasks | Breaking inertia/resistance |

Trikker Activation is superior for initial activation—the "zero to one" problem. Habit stacking is better for maintaining a flow once you are already in motion.

| Phase | Action | Outcome | |-------|--------|---------| | 1. Detect | System listens for the “Trikker signal” (e.g., first login, voice command, NFC tap) | Readiness confirmed | | 2. Authenticate | One-step verification (biometric, token, or contextual) | Secure handshake | | 3. Activate | Core functions unlock + guided micro-tour | User in flow state |

If the activation requires effort, it will fail. The Trikker must lead to a "micro-action" so easy that saying "no" feels stupider than doing it. For example: "When the alarm sounds, put one foot on the floor." That is a Trikker. "When the alarm sounds, write a 1,000-word report" is a command destined for failure.

To understand why Trikker Activation works, we must look at the Basal Ganglia and the Prefrontal Cortex.

Most people fail to change because they try to force the PFC to override deep-seated habits. This leads to "ego depletion" by 3:00 PM.

Trikker Activation solves this by shifting the locus of control from the PFC to the Basal Ganglia. You design a cue so specific and so linked to a motor action that the brain activates the routine without "asking permission" from the conscious mind.
