Uret 17 ❲LIMITED❳
Even the best urethane wears out. Environmental factors—dust, temperature, and ink chemistry—all affect blade life. As a general rule:
Pro Tip: Always keep spare URET 17 kits on hand. This is a low-cost, high-impact consumable. Running without a functional wiper for even a few hours can lead to permanent print head damage costing thousands in repairs. uret 17
Critical Note: Always verify the pinout with a multimeter before installing. Many counterfeit or generic replacements reverse the stud polarity. Even the best urethane wears out
In older CRT televisions and computer monitors, the horizontal deflection circuit generates very high voltages (20-30kV) for the anode. The URET 17 served as a damper diode in the horizontal output stage (HOT). It suppressed reverse voltage spikes from the flyback transformer, protecting the horizontal output transistor. Unused URET 17 blades have a shelf life. Urethane can degrade from ozone, UV light, and temperature extremes.
