This is the gold standard method that works even when signed drivers are blocked.
The VK-QF9700 is a common, very cheap USB 2.0 to Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) adapter, often sold under generic names. Windows 11 does NOT include native drivers for this chipset. You must manually install legacy drivers. Once installed, it works reliably for basic networking but is limited by its old 100Mbps speed.
Do not use random "driver updater" software. Use the verified MosChip/Davicom driver package.
Safe source: You can extract the driver from the official Linux kernel source (ironically) or use the last known working Microsoft catalog driver. For practical purposes, we recommend the DM9601 driver version 2.0.0.108 (dated 2015). vk-qf9700 driver windows 11

| Pros | Cons | |------|------| | Very cheap (< $10) | No native Windows 11 driver | | Works after manual install | 100Mbps only (obsolete for modern broadband) | | Low power | Signature issues on fresh Win11 installs | | No extra software | Poor labeling; fake chips exist |
There is no official signed driver from VK or MosChip. But the community has kept this chip alive using an inf-modded, test-signed driver originally from the manufacturer "CoreChips." This is the gold standard method that works
Do not expect miracles. The VK-QF9700 is a USB 1.1/2.0 design from the early 2000s.
| Metric | Value | |--------|-------| | Max throughput | ~90-95 Mbps (real-world) | | CPU usage | Moderate (5-15% on a modern CPU) | | Latency | 1-2 ms higher than a built-in NIC | | Wake-on-LAN | Not supported |
If you need Gigabit speeds, replace the adapter. If you just need a temporary Ethernet connection for a legacy device, this driver fix works fine. Note: We cannot host the file here, but
Cause: You used a 32-bit driver on 64-bit Windows 11 (or vice versa).
Fix: Ensure you download the amd64 (64-bit) version of the DM9601 driver. Windows 11 no longer supports 32-bit drivers for network hardware.
