The June 2014 exam took place during a period of transition for the CILS system. While the format has remained largely stable, the 2014 session is often cited as a benchmark for "pre-reform" difficulty. Students who took this exam recall that the listening comprehension (Ascolto) and the use of the Congiuntivo Passato (Past Subjunctive) were particular stumbling blocks.

Unlike some later sessions that slightly adjusted the weighting of sections, the CILS B2 Giugno 2014 adhered strictly to the traditional five-section structure.
