The standard DFU mode on Apple devices expects only Apple-signed images. Pwndfu disrupts this by:

Once a device is in pwned DFU mode, tools like ipwnder, irecovery, and custom bootloaders (e.g., OpeniBoot, Blackbird) can take over.

The scope of ipwndfu is determined by the hardware vulnerability. It affects all devices with A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, and A11 processors.
